Paper on Software Cost Estimation has been accepted in Empirical Software Engineering Journal
August 30th, 2011 by lef
The paper entitled “A Permutation Test based on Regression Error Characteristic Curves for Software Cost Estimation Models” by N. Mittas and L. Angelis has been accepted for publication in Empirical Software Engineering (Springer).
The paper describes a new statistical test for comparing different cost estimation models through a graphical tool, the REC curves.
Paper on Software Defect Diagnosis has been accepted for publication in Automated Software Engineering Journal
June 27th, 2011 by lef
The paper entitled “Applying the Mahalanobis-Taguchi Strategy for Software Defect Diagnosis” by D. Liparas, L. Angelis and R. Feldt has been accepted for publication in Automated Software Engineering journal (Springer).
The Mahalanobis-Taguchi (MT) strategy combines mathematical and statistical concepts like Mahalanobis distance, Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization and experimental designs to diagnosis and decision-making based on multivariate data. In this paper, the MT strategy combined with a cluster analysis technique for determining the most appropriate training set, is described and applied to well-known datasets in order to evaluate the fault-proneness of software modules.
Paper on Success Factors has been accepted for publication in IEEE Software
June 27th, 2011 by lef
The paper entitled “Success Factors Powering Industry-Academia Collaboration in Software Research” by Claes Wohlin, Aybüke Aurum, Lefteris Angelis, Laura Phillips, Patrik Berander, Lars-Ola Damm, Yvonne Dittrich, Jeanette Eriksson, Nina Fogelström, Tony Gorschek, Håkan Grahn, Kennet Henningsson, Simon Kågström, Graham Low, Lars Lundberg, Michael Mattsson, Per Rovegård, Kari Rönköö, Hanna Scott, Piotr Tomaszewski, Christine van Toorn and Jeff Winter has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Software journal.
This paper presents a survey of factors for successful collaboration between industry and academia. The survey was designed and conducted in Sweden first, and later it was replicated in Australia.
The paper on MeSHy has been accepted for publication in Journal of Biomedical Informatics
May 31st, 2011 by lef
The paper entitled “MeSHy: mining unanticipated PubMed information using frequencies of occurrences and concurrences of MeSH terms” by Th. Theodosiou, I. Vizirianakis, L. Angelis, A. Tsaftaris and N. Darzentas has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Biomedical Informatics (Elsevier).
MeSHy is a Web-based Biotext mining tool for Unanticipated Knowledge Discovery through Statistical Ranking of MeSH term pairs. It is the result of the research collaboration between the Institute of Agrobiotechnology at CERTH, the STAINS team and the Department of Pharmaceutical Science. MeSHy searches PubMed for documents relevant to a user’s query and ranks the pairs of their MeSH terms promoting unusual occurrences. The first in rank MeSH term pairs (and therefore the corresponding documents) offer unexpected, unique and sometimes innovative information. The site for MeSHy is: http://bat.ina.certh.gr/tools/meshy/
